BIOGRAPHY - Kerry Francis

Kerry Francis qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Hertfordshire in 2001. Since then, she has gained extensive experience across the NHS, the military, and private practice.

After her initial junior rotations she worked within the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, including in the specialist Hand Therapy Team, PEOC and later in Occupational Health. She went on to specialise further in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and held a key role working in a civilian capacity with the Royal Marines at RMB Chivenor, providing physiotherapy for serving personnel with complex musculoskeletal, trauma & sports-related injuries. Alongside this, she also worked in private practice in North Devon.

Since moving fully into independent practice, Kerry has combined her clinical physiotherapy expertise with additional training that informs her holistic approach. In 2007, she undertook a sabbatical to study yoga at the internationally renowned KYM Institute in Chennai, India, followed by further studies with the Devon School of Yoga. In 2018, she completed training in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy at the world respected Karuna Institute.

Kerry continues to stay up to date with current physiotherapy and medical research, and has furthered her expertise through working alongside leading physiotherapists and craniosacral therapists in the UK and internationally, and additional training at the Trauma Research Centre.

Through the past 25 years, I’ve focused on deepening my understanding of the human body, mind, and overall wellbeing.

I value the advances of conventional medical practice while also seeking out evidence-informed approaches to address the root causes of dysfunction.

This led me to always further my physiotherapy expertise and also to train in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, with the Trauma Research Centre, and in Yoga, integrating these insights to provide effective, holistic care.

Treatment Pillars

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle yet potent way of working with the body using light touch.

It supports your body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself as well as helping to reduce stress and build underlying energy.”

Physiotherapy

"Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability"

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Yoga

Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.

Contrary to popular believe you don't need to be flexible at all to do yoga.

" If you can breathe you can do yoga"

Trauma/Stress

Our understanding of how chronic stress and trauma link to illness has significantly advanced, yet conventional medicine has yet to fully integrate this knowledge

A growing body of scientific studies show that stress and trauma profoundly impact our physical health, with adverse experiences, literally held within the body.
